Holiday Book
Drive 2018
The Holiday Book Drive is organized by the TVCC Library and driven by community members like you!
Our goal is to gift a new book to at least ten children in every classroom in Ontario's elementary schools and the smaller surrounding schools. Last year, we gave 646 books to children at Alameda, Aiken, Cairo, May Roberts, Pioneer, Four Rivers Community School, and Annex.

This year, we will deliver 953 books to our Ontario schools, Annex, and Adrian!
How it
Works
October
We contact our local schools seeking nominations from teachers for ten children from each classroom who would benefit from receiving a book as a gift this year. We ask teachers to list the children's favorite types of books so we can match them with the perfect book!
November
Schools submit their roster of students by Veteran's Day, and we get busy collecting books!

After Thanksgiving, we set up Book Giving Trees with gift tags around the TVCC campus and the community so people can purchase a book for a specific child (we share age and book preference, but never names!).

This year, you can find Book Giving Trees in the TVCC Library, TVCC Barber Hall, Ontario Community Library, Andrew's Seed Co., and Sorbenots.
December
At the beginning of December, we purchase books with donations we have received and start to wrap all of the books that have been donated to the Giving Trees. Wrapping 600 or more books is a monumental task which we share with campus and community volunteers! We welcome donations of gift wrap as well as books.

In the week before schools dismiss for winter break, we deliver boxes of beautifully wrapped books to our participating schools!

We also accept donations via cash or check in the Library. Please make checks out to TVCC Library.
We know that it can be difficult to choose the perfect book to donate, so we created a list of suggestions for you! As you click on the book covers below, you'll find book recommendation lists for each age group we serve: teens, tweens, kids, and little kids.
When you order from one of our Amazon Wishlists, we can track your donation and the packages will be directly sent to our Library!

Donate NEW books for children ages 5-18. Title suggestions can be found on our website.

Host a Book Giving Tree and donation basket in your business during the book drive in November and December.
